I am a Civil Engineer based in Leeds, UK, working mainly on water projects. My areas of focus are flood protection and sustainable drainage and I also have experience in masterplanning and international development.

I have collaborated with local authority clients in Leeds, Barnsley, York and Staffordshire to develop and deliver a wide range of impactful projects such as flood defence schemes, sustainable drainage strategies and environmental impact assessments. Projects of note include Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme where I was on site supervising construction works for three years and York Central.

I also have an interest in international development and secured a project with the Humanitarian Innovation Fund. Arup worked in collaboration with Oxfam, CIRIA, WEDC and partners to create Surface Water Management guidance for humanitarian contexts. In 2017/2018 I took a six-month sabbatical with Engineers Without Borders UK working with Kounkuey Design Initiative in Nairobi, Kenya. This inspiring experience made me passionate about working with communities, and wider stakeholders, to aid flood resilience.

I am proud to feature within both the Royal Academy of Engineering ‘This is Engineering’ 2020 campaign and the ERA Foundation’s ‘Born to Engineer’ 2019 campaign. Both aim to promote engineering careers to young people, addressing the UK shortfall of engineers and lack of diversity within the profession. I was also proud to feature in the 2021 Top 50 Women in Engineering Awards as an engineering hero.
