Renewable electricity generation cost report

In February 2015 DECC appointed Arup to carry out a review of renewable generation costs and technical assumptions for UK renewables.

A key objective of DECC’s was to improve its evidence base with an aim of achieving better value for money. To inform its analysis the Arup team collected new data through a large-scale stakeholder engagement process, published reports and internal technical expertise.

Arup has completed a report for the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (‘DECC’) which indicates that the levelised cost of renewable electricity generation has fallen across a range of technologies. The analysis indicates that there is potential for levelised cost to continue and fall out to 2030. The findings from the study will be used to help form new policy and strategic decision making, providing one of the most comprehensive reviews about the future of renewable energy generation.
