Arup participates in IABSE

Arup will be delivering a keynote speech at the upcoming International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) international conference.

The conference will cover the important topic of keeping our infrastructure in good condition. As well as sponsoring the event, Arup will organise a site visit and publish papers about the assessment, upgrading and refurbishment of infrastructures.

Sander den Blanken, Associate Director of Arup in the Netherlands, was elected as member of the Working Commission for ‘Conservation of Structures’. In this role he can significantly contribute to the international development of knowledge on assessment and strengthening of bridges. Sander will join the next annual meeting of the working committee that will take place 16-18 September 2012 in Seoul, Korea, themed ‘Innovative Infrastructures – toward Human Urbanism.’

IABSE is a scientific and technical association comprising about 4,000 members in 100 countries. It offers a platform for exchange of knowledge, opinions and ideas, to explore new ways for this global problem.

The IABSE 2013 Spring Conference will be held in the Netherlands on May 6 – 8, 2013.
