La Sagrada Familia: Building Gaudí's Dream
Arup’s deputy chairman and Arup Fellow Tristram Carfrae is hosting a lecture on the Sagrada Familia, discussing our work as leading structural designer of the project.
Part of the Real Estate Talks series, the lecture has been organized by Arup and the IE School of Architecture and Design, and covers some of the key challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
Work on this intricate basilica influenced by Gothic and Byzantine cathedrals is nearly 70 percent complete. The final phase of La Sagrada Familia will deliver the fantastical stonework that Gaudí envisioned, but in ways he could not imagine. Tristram Carfrae will explain how Gaudí’s remarkable creative genius will be realized with the use of technology and advanced structural engineering.
The lecture will be introduced by Martha Thorne, Dean of the IE’s School of Architecture and Design, and will be followed by a Q&A and networking cocktail.
