8 ChifleyOur first collaboration with Richard Rogers architects in Australia – one of Sydney’s greenest buildings.

Arup came to Australia in 1963 to undertake the structural design of the Sydney Opera House and we now work from seven offices across four key areas of influence: cities, connectivity, health, resources. Our desire to shape a better world ensures our clients receive smart design ideas with a social purpose, which will have a positive influence for current and future generations. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and history of our region, and Arup's Indigenous Employment Strategy articulates our actions to broaden employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians into, and within, the firm.

Adelaide

Adelaide is South Australia's capital city with over 1 million inhabitants and the centre of many diverse and dynamic industries. Renowned for its cultural attributes, the city comes alive each year with a myriad of festivals and major events, leveraging the enviable Mediterranean climate. Arup has an equally diverse portfolio of local work including the Project Management for the refurbishment of Adelaide Zoo, strategic infrastructure projects such as the Olympic Dam Mine Expansion and the redevelopment of the flagship sporting venue in the city, the Adelaide Oval.

The firms contributions to South Australia are not confined to Project Management, Water or Building Engineering – Arup specialists also advise on the acoustics of the built environment, evacuation strategies and facade engineering.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. In Adelaide our Sustainability and Planning team focus on sustainability planning and appraisal, distributed green infrastructure planning, resilient community development, carbon management, and climate change adaptation planning.
