Green energy is a major area of interest to investors across the world. We worked for Green Investment Group (GIG), one of the world’s leading green energy investors, active across Asia, Europe and the Americas, helping them to make a major acquisition in the sector.
Understanding the potential
Arup worked on behalf of GIG as it acquired Conergy Asia, a firm with a considerable portfolio of operational renewable energy assets. Our team provided technical and operational due diligence Advisory Services to support the business evaluation process, bringing together specialists from across Australia, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.
Project Summary
500MW renewable energy portfolio
250khomes to be powered by this energy
88new employees located across 5 countries
We focused on reviewing the potential energy that would be generated by the solar PV assets, cost assumptions, operating model, environmental and planning constraints as well as consideration of the development lifecycle against the requirements of each jurisdiction. Our approach combined deep technical understanding with a sharp focus on the true financial and economic implications for GIG.
The impact
The deal saw GIG purchase the solar team and portfolio of Conergy Asia, a portfolio including 500MW of developed solar projects across the Asia Pacific, which equates to powering 250,000 homes. It also includes a substantial development pipeline and team of 88 employees located across Singapore, Australia, Japan, Germany and the Philippines, who will also join GIG as part of the transaction.
